I am finally moving out of my parents home and renting a house with a friend. I am fine paying the rent and utilites, but when i comes to the extras I am tapped out at the monet.
Can anyone give me any ideas where I can find a decent, but cheap:
mattress
bookcase
Computer desk
Coffee Table

First of all, beg, borrow or steal a good NEW mattress. You'll be using it a lot more than you think, and your body will appreciate it. As for the other items, garage sales are a good inexpensive source. So are thrift stores like the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores. good hunting!!
check your paper for divorce sales and moving out of state sales.
Best to buy NEW matress.!
Saw an episode on History channel...Health....some channel...last week about these companies & stores making and selling reconditioned mattresses.
Very disturbing.......supposedly destroy all materials on old/used matteress...........bought from people who have picked them up off the streets......dumps......etc...etc....spr… with chemicals....bleach..alcohol.....to kill any bacteria/bugs......then recover with new material.......didn't happen in all cases......just stripped old top covering and replaced with new material.....sometimes didn't even do theat.....just added new material over old.
The reporters who made the episode....bought and tested over 20 - 30 ...reconditioned matteresses.....found signs where bed bugs had been....and in some instances found larvaee (sp) of bugs in over 1/2 of them.....even found a live bug in one.
Moving into first new place..where can I buy cheap matress and furnishings?
